Locals of Khurai Salan Thong and Kairang have imposed ban on fetching water from Imphal river by water tankers.
Speaking to media persons, Pritamjit, Secretary of United Youth Club said that due to the scarcity of water during this lean season the water level of Imphal river has been decreased. There is not enough water for locals.
Water tankers are fetching water from 4 (four) different locations. This water is distributed to different locations of the city. As the water level has been receded locals have already banned to take water from the river by the tankers, he said.
He also informed that police have seized water pipes from the tankers as failed to stop taking water from the river.
