LIPUL calls indefinite bandh on NH 1

Lilong Political Unified Link (LIPUL) has called indefinite bandh in Thoubal district from 23rd Jan in protest against the government’s failure of road widening work from Lilong Bridge to Waithou road stretch of NH1.
Speaking to media persons at a press meet, Chief Advisor, MA Zabbar said the road from Lilong Bridge to Waithou is in deplorable condition. As a result of this several road mishaps took place amounting to the death of several civilians. Zabbar further said that the government’s authorities including the Chief Minister himself passed through this stretch of road but nothing has been done to improve the condition even after knowing it. He added that the association had earlier urged the government to broaden the road and given a dateline till yesterday to do the same. Since there is no response from the government’s side the association resorted to call indefinite bandh in Thoubal district with effect from 23rd Jan, 06.00 am however media persons and other emergency services will be relaxed during the bandh.
