One day public awareness program on knowing and realizing the United Nations’ 17 international development goals also known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) has begun at Nupee Lal Memorial Complex, Imphal. The main theme of today’s program is to welcome the SDGs in Manipur and to urge the leaders of Manipur to Light the way.
Rajkumar Imo Singh, MLA, Sagolband AC and S. Saratkumar Sharmar, Chairperson, Manipur State Commission for Protection of Child Rights graced the function as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.
The program is jointly organized by Human Rights Alert and Big Sister’s League in partnership with Centre for Research and Advocacy, Manipur (CRAM), Community Network for Empowerment (CONE), Extrajudicial Executive Victims Families Association Manipur (EEVFAM), Indigenous Perspective (IP), Manipur Alliance for Child Rights (MACR), Sustainable Livelihood Forum Manipur (SLFM), and United Voluntary Youth Council (UVYC).
It may be mention that SDGs are about lives. Its targets ending poverty and hunger, improving health and education, making cities more sustainable, combating climate change, and protecting our oceans and forests etc. by the 2003.
