Imphal, Sept 21:
The Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur (LNC-M) extended its heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister N. Biren Singh for his continued support and dedication to the indigenous Liangmai tribe residing in the Koubru ranges of Kangpokpi District. The council acknowledged the Chief Minister’s commitment to uplifting their community through various developmental projects.
In their statement, the LNC-M highlighted that the tribe had long presented grievances to previous governments without seeing results. However, under the leadership of N. Biren Singh, the community has witnessed significant progress. Notably, during the “Go To Hills 2.0” program on October 22, 2021, at Konsakhul, Kangpokpi District, the Chief Minister promised several projects, many of which have since been completed, including the Makhan Market Shed, Konsakhul Football Ground, and the establishment of multiple Primary Health Sub-Centers (PHSCs).
The council also reiterated the importance of the Leimakhong to Langka PMGSY road, a 23-km stretch vital for improving access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for the Liangmai community. They urged the government to prioritize its construction, emphasizing its role in promoting social integration and economic development.
The LNC-M advocated for placing the Liangmai community under a single administrative unit to protect their political rights and foster equitable development.
The council expressed confidence in N. Biren Singh’s leadership, hoping he would continue to guide the state towards good governance, lasting peace, and development for all indigenous communities.
