LEIKOL celebrates Silver Jubilee

The Silver Jubilee celebration of Leimarol Khorjeikol (LEIKOL), marking 25 years of its establishment, was held at the auditorium of JN Manipur Dance Academy.
The event commenced with a floral tribute to three prominent female writers and was attended by former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi as Chief Guest, Ch. Subadani Devi as President, and Prof. Rajen Toijam, Convenor of the Manipuri Language Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, as Guest of Honour.
During the celebration, Prof. Ch Jamini was conferred the title “Tomthin Nganbi” (Women of Excellence), and a souvenir commemorating the Silver Jubilee was released.
Speaking on the occasion, former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi highlighted the vital role of women in Manipur, noting that their contributions in literary fields are remarkable. He quoted Napoleon’s saying about the power of a good mother, adding that women writers, through their literary works, have significantly contributed to society.
Ibobi further acknowledged the invaluable contribution of the late MK Binodini, as priceless. It will not be wrong to say that female writer to be termed as social reformer, he added and called for continued encouragement and recognition of female writers for their dedication and societal contributions.
