National Legal Services Day cum One Day Legal Awareness Programme being organised by Imphal West District Legal Services Authority and Economic and Environment Management Association (EEMA) was held today at the office of EEMA at Keishampat Lairembi Leikai.
Attending the function as Presidium member, Ojesh Mutum, Civil Judge, and Judicial Magistrate First Class Imphal said that the legal awareness programme is being conducted to spread knowledge about the existing legal system to the people. There are many legal acts and everyone should be aware of them so that no one misuses them. He added that these legal acts are not limited to only rich and educated people but for everyone including poor and disabled people. There are various free legal schemes under state legal service authority and to spread awareness about the scheme such awareness program was organised.
Speaking on the topic of ‘Government beneficial schemes,’ Thokchom Premlata Devi, Advocate said there various schemes provided by the Government of India. She talked about various schemes such as old age pension scheme, Indira Gandhi Widow pension scheme, Indira Gandhi Widow Disability scheme, etc. Talking about the beneficial schemes if any one who deserves the scheme and not able to avail them then they can approach to the Free legal advisor and file a suit against the concerned organisation.
