Left Peasant unions in Manipur decided to launch against recent Farm Laws , appeals to the people to support the movement

Left wing Peasant unions in Manipur viz. Manipur Loumee Marup (MLM – affiliated to AIKS), Manipur Loumee Lup (MLL- affiliated to AIKS , Ajay Bhavan), Samyukta Kisan Sabha(SKS), All India Agragami Kisan Samitee ( AIAKS) with North East Forum of International Solidarity (NEFIS) have jointly organised a One Day Hunger Strike Against the Farm Laws ,which were passed by the Indian Parliament in September 2020, at Irawat Bhawan, BT Road, Imphal today.
Addressing the hunger strike Comrade Haobijam Ibobi, Secretary MLL said that the Farm Laws passed by the BJP led NDA Government in September 2020 wasn’t in favour of the Indian peasants. He further said that the Central Government is committed to serve their masters, the corporate world to get huge electoral bonds from them to purchase the electorates during the coming elections in the country.
Sarat Salam, former Secretary of MLM, narrating the movement of the Indian farmers and peasants since August said that the Indian farmers are united irrespective of their caste, creed and communities . He mentioned that more than 11 thousand peasants committed suicide during the year 2019. Recently a young farmers in Madhya Pradesh committed suicide because he couldn’t clear electricity bill, his floor mill and motor cycle was confiscated. A suicide note addressed to the Prime Minister Modi was found. The note requested the Prime Minister to sell his organs so that to clear the debts. Sarat protesting strongly the laws and attitudes of the government appeals to the people to actively support and participate the farmers movement to repeal the hated laws.
Khumukcham Chinglen , leader of NEFIS, expressed that the farm laws are not only against farmers it is against the entire people of this country . Now , India is in 104th rank of the World Hunger list. He told the hunger strike is a symbolic support to the struggling farmers of the country.
The One Day Hunger Strike was also addressed by CPI Secretary L Sotinkumar, CPI (M) Secretary Kshetrimayum Santa, MLM President Yumlembam Jogendra , SKS leader N Ratan and AIAKS leader M Nabakishore .
During the protest the left wing parties demanded to Convene a special Parliament session to repeal the farm laws. Other demands includes to make  minimum support price (MSP) and state procurement of crops a legal right; Assurances that conventional procurement system will remain; Implement Swaminathan Panel Report and peg MSP at least 50% more than weighted average cost of production; Cut diesel prices for agricultural use by 50%.; Repeal of Commission on Air Quality Management in NCR and the adjoining Ordinance 2020 and removal of punishment and fine for stubble burning.
The organizations also demanded immediate release of the farmers arrested for burning paddy stubble in Punjab.
It protest today also demanded abolishing the Electricity Ordinance 2020 and to urged center to not to not interfere in state subjects, decentralization in practice.
It also urged for withdrawal of all cases against and release of farmer leaders.
