Member of the Thoubal District Bar Association (TDBA) has demanded appointment of a regular Judge for the Family Court Thoubal district and expressed dissatisfaction over the non-transfer of Chief Judicial Magistrate even after five years.
With the Family Court, Thoubal having no regular Judge, all the matters are put up the in-charge i.e. District & Session Judge of the relevant times.
The Family Court, Thoubal is a peripheral Court having Jurisdiction over the vast Districts of Thoubal and Kakching. Even before the Corona Pandemic began the Ld. Members of TDBA approached to the concerned authorities and several memorandums have been submitted to meet their, however, no concrete action could be seen so far, the statement added.
The Lawyer’s body of Thoubal district said that the Family Court, Thoubal was inaugurated in July 16,2017 by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh in the presence of High Court Justice N. Kotishwar and the then Law Minister L. Jayantakumar. After the inauguration and establishment of Family Court, Thoubal was functioning smoothly for some years by appointing judge from time to time on Adhoc basis or re-engagement method.
The members of the Thoubal District Bar Association appealed to the MLAs of Thoubal and Kakching Districts to extend their support to meet their demands.
The Association further notified to the concerned authorities that as earlier stated all the members of TDBA in consultation with All Manipur Bar Association will launch various protest, boycott of the Courts, agitations in a peaceful, non-violence and democratic way until their demands are met for the welfare of the people and to re-impose trust in judiciary system of Manipur.
