La. Ganesan sworn in as Governor of Manipur

Former Rajya Sabha Member La. Ganesan was sworn in as the 17th Governor of Manipur at a ceremony held today at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, Imphal. Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur PV Sanjay Kumar administered the oath of office and secrecy to La. Ganesan.

The ceremony was attended by Chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh, deputy chief minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh, Speaker of Manipur assembly Y Khemchand Singh,council of ministers,Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar led other officials and senior citizens were present during the ceremony. Ganesan said he will work sincerely work for the welfare of the Manipur.

Later, the new Governor also inspected guard of honour. The Governor’s post fell vacant after Najma Heptulla’s retirement earlier this month.

Heptulla had demitted office on August 10 and on the same day the charge was given to Sikkim Governor Ganga Prasad.

La. Ganesan born on February 16, 1945 in temple town Tanjore.
