The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has condemned the killing of four Kuki-Zo civilians, including two women, in separate attacks at L. Tollen and Longpi villages in Tamenglong and Noney districts on September 13, alleging the involvement of Naga armed groups.
According to KZC spokesperson and Secretary, Information and Publicity, Gin. Ualzong, Seineh Singsit and his wife, Lhingzangai Singsit, were killed at L. Tollen, while their six-year-old son suffered a severe gunshot injury to his hand.
At Longpi, Julie Gangte, who was reportedly pregnant, and Thangvel Roel Gangte, described by the KZC as the only son of his family, were killed. Another victim, Nei Esther, sustained critical injuries, the statement said.
The KZC alleged that 22 Kuki-Zo civilians, including women and children, have been killed by Naga armed groups since the beginning of 2026, and accused Naga political and civil society leaders of maintaining “selective outrage” while demanding justice for six Naga deaths.
The council also criticised what it termed the unwillingness of Naga leaders to pursue meaningful reconciliation and dialogue to end the Naga-Kuki-Zo conflict.
Expressing concern over reports linking the latest attacks to NSCN-IM cadres allegedly operating through or alongside ZUF-K and Naga Village Guards, the KZC urged the Government of India to take decisive action against armed groups operating in Manipur.
The council warned that continued armed-group activity could further endanger civilians and push the state towards another full-scale conflict.
“Kuki-Zo people have endured enough bloodshed,” the KZC said, calling for equal justice, universal accountability and protection of civilians without discrimination.
