Kuki militants defies SoO, attacks civilian at Kangchup Chingkhong – Villagers

A day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah left Manipur and warn Kuki militants not to violate the ground rules of the Suspension of Operation (SoO), fresh incidents of Kuki militants firing towards civilians are reported from various places in the periphery.
Report reaching here said that at least 4 civilians sustained serious injury in the attack by armed Kuki militants at Kangchup Chingkhong in Imphal West district.
Speaking to Imphal Times, a villager said that a large number of heavily armed Kuki militants came to the village and tried to burn the houses of civilians located in Abulok area of Kangchup Chingkhong. When the villagers tried to stop them the armed militant fired discriminately towards the civilians at around 2:20 pm. today.
Four persons were seriously injured in the attack. Three (3) sustained serious bullet injuries and one sustained injury by the splinters of mortar fired by armed Kuki militants.
The situation remains tense as heavy gunfight between the armed Kuki militants and State security forces continues till the time of filling this report.
