Kuki Chief Assns reiterates stand to ban poppy plantation in Tengnoupal district

Kuki Chiefs Association (KCA) of Tengnoupal district once more reiterated its stand to ban the poppy plantation in Tengnoupal district today.
A meeting of the Kuki Chiefs of the district was held today at Tuinom Village Community Hall in Tengnoupal district today morning. Representatives of KCA Moreh Block, KCA Machi Block, KCA Tengnoupal Block, KWRO Tengnoupal District and representatives of various Kuki Civil Society Organisation attended the meeting.
Speaking to media persons, Vice President KCA Tengnoupal district, Th. Thokhothang Haokip said that as per the advice of the Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, the Kuki Chiefs and the Civil society bodies of Tengnoupal district once more organized meeting to make sure that Poppy Plantation has been completely ban in the district. He said that a committee comprising of 10 people has been formed. He further added that as the people have stopped poppy plantation, the government should focus more on providing alternative means of livelihood for the villagers.
