The Khelen Thokchom Trust (KTT) is organizing a two-day media workshop focused on legal reporting on October 27 and 28, 2024, at the Manipur Press Club to commemorate the 64th birth anniversary of the esteemed journalist Khelen Thokchom. The workshop aims to empower journalists with specialized insights into legal journalism, fostering an understanding of key legal frameworks and principles. The event is made possible through the support of the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) and the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA).
The workshop will feature prominent figures as resource persons, including Advocates Thiyam Rajkishore and Hijam Chandrakumar, along with Senior Journalist Yumnam Rupachandra and Journalist Leivom Jimmy Lamkang, who will lead sessions on various legal reporting nuances.
The inaugural session will be attended by a distinguished panel, including MCPCR Chairperson Keisham Padipkumar; Alek Muivah, Member Secretary of MSLSA; Bijoy Kakchingtabam, President of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU); Khogendra Khongdram, President of the Editors Guild Manipur (EGM); Irengbam Arun, Advisor of KTT; and Thokchom Memcha Devi, Founder of KTT.
This gathering of legal experts and seasoned journalists promises to enhance the quality and depth of legal reporting in Manipur, with a focus on issues related to child rights and accessible justice.
