Imphal, Nov 3:
The Kshetrigao Meitei Pangal United Club (KMPUC) has condemned the unilateral action taken by the YADA and YOVA Clubs in detaining four members of Arambai Tenggol (AT) during a recent anti-drug drive and handing them over to the police.
The incident occurred when members of the YADA and YOVA Clubs detained the four Arambai Tengol members, who were involved in a drive against anti-social elements in the area, and handed them over to the authorities. The drive, led by Arambai Tengol, aimed at curbing drug-related issues, was supported by the KMPUC, which also conducts similar drives in the region.
In a statement, KMPUC expressed strong disapproval of the actions taken by the local organizations, asserting that prior information regarding such drives should have been shared with KMPUC. The KMPUC emphasized that the lack of communication led to a misunderstanding, which could have been avoided.
KMPUC further stated that YOVA and YADA Clubs should have consulted with them before taking any action. They added that if these clubs continued to act unilaterally, they should bear the full responsibility for any consequences.
The KMPUC reiterated its support for drives aimed at curbing anti-social activities but stressed the importance of coordination and proper communication among local organizations.
