A UNLF captain led by Koireng, has been reportedly killed in an intense gunbattle between the Kuki National Army – B (KNA-B) and Manipur-based armed groups near Waksu, a few kilometers from Kondong Road along the Indo-Myanmar border. The clash marks a continuation of ongoing hostilities in the region.
According to sources, KNA-B has been launching relentless attacks on Manipur-based armed groups and Naga rebel groups in the border areas. In response to the unremitting assaults, insurgent groups from the Northeast have reportedly joined forces to retaliate.
Yesterday, fresh clashes broke out between suspected cadres of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and KNA-B. Sources claim that at least 30 KNA-B cadres have been killed in the past four days, with unofficial estimates suggesting the death toll has risen to 31. Many of the recovered bodies reportedly had Aadhaar cards listing addresses from Kangpokpi and Churachandpur.
Additionally, as many as 25 sophisticated weapons were reportedly recovered by PLA cadres from the battle zones.
