Imphal, Dec. 23: Union Home Minister of State Kiren Rijiju today said that neither the Union Home Minister Rajnath nor he himself had made any call to the State government regarding the arrest or release of the 2 UNC leaders who were arrested in connection with the economic blockade by the state government.
UNC president Gaidon Kamei and Publicity secretary S Stephen Lamkang were arrested by a team of Imphal West police from Pheidinga in Imphal West on November 25. There has been report going on around the state media at which the government authorities stated that the Union Home Minister has directed the state government for released of the 2 UNC leaders.
Speaking to reporters at the Old Secretariat Conference Hall, Union Home Minister of State Kiren Rijiju said that there was no such intimidation made from either the Union Home Minister Rajnath or he himself to the state government for release of the 2 UNC leaders.
“My Home Minister has not made any call, I have not made any call to the state government”, said Kiren Rijiju while answering to reporters when asked if any pressure is given from their side.
The Union Home Minister of State further said that whatever happen in the state is within the purview of the state government and Center had not interfere to the federal structure of the country.
