KIM urges PM to settle political aspiration of Kukis before settling with NSCN-IM

The Kuki Inpi Manipur has submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister of India urging for early settlement of the political aspiration of the Kukis.

The memorandum was submitted at a time when there are talk around for settlement  the NSCN-IM issue.

In the memorandum the Kuki Inpi Manipur appreciated the directives of the Prime Minister’s office for finalization of the peace talk between the government of India and the NSCN-IM , however reminded the genocidal act of Thuinaleng Muivah led NSCN-IM to the notice of the prime Minister and said that this heinous act should be settled before inking any deal with the outfit.

The memorandum also stated that-  of the sixteen district of Manipur, the Kukis dominated five districts. It said Chandel , Kangpokpi, Tengnouppal, Phezawl and Churanchandpur districts are dominated by the Kukis .

“As such any attempt to pamper the NSCN-IM at the cost of the Kuki ancestral land and without settling Kuki political demands will be a betrayal of Kuki aspirations and is likely to fuel violent reprisals”, the memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister cautions.

The Kuki Inpi Manipur urged the Prime Minister to seriously consider simultaneous settlement of Kuki and Naga aspirations for self governance within the Union of India so as to rule out imminent adverse repercussions of a settlement between Government of India and NSCN-IM that affects Kuki inhabited  areas.

The memorandum also stated that the apex body of the Kukis, the Kuki Inpi Manipur had submitted several memorandums earlier to the Prime Minister of India stating that the Frame Work Agreement between the GoI and the NSCN-IM should not infringe upon the kuki inhabited lands .

“The Kukis will accept any solution or agreement whatsoever made the Government of India and NSCN-IM if such agreement does not infringe the political aspiration of the Kukis”, the Kuki Inpi said.
