The dead body of Irom Ningol Tamubi devi (65) was discovered buried today at Loitang Khullen Mamang Awang Leikai under Sekmai Police in Imphal West District. The incident came to light when Apabi (70), the elder brother of the deceased and his three sons surrendered to the Sekmai police today morning and confessed to committing the murder. Tamubi, who has been living with her brother since her husband from Phumlou died, went missing since last Thursday and locals started complaining of a foul stench in the locality. The family of killers disclosed the burial site to the police which happened to be inside the homestead of the family, but when a team of police attempted to exhume the corpse, locals prevented them from doing so, demanding that the killers be made to do the digging. Although the exact reason for the murder has not been forthcoming, issues relating to ownership of land is suspected to be the cause. The body has not been exhumed till the time of filing the news.
