Imphal, July 26: A 4-year-old boy has been tested positive for scrub typhus on Wednesday two days after a youth died due to the disease.
The boy started suffering from fever of high temperature on July 21 and he was admitted to a private hospital at Sagolband Moirang Leirak Machin here for treatment.
The serological test confirmed as scrub typhus positive case. The patient is a resident of Pukhao, but presently staying at his aunt’s residence at Thangmeiband Tarung Khul.
It is believed the kid suffered the infection when he was playing at Cheiraoching in Thangmeiband about 10 days back.
A 22-year-old youth named Huidrom Bishwamitra hailing from Sekmaijin died of scrub typhus on July 24.
