A large number of mobs rounded up drug pedlars as well as drug users and vandalised various properties of the house where the pedlars live on Tuesday noon at Khurai Khumidok Sorok Mapan. The pedlars were paraded on the road by a larger number of people till the committee hall of the Khurai Sorok Mapan Village Anti Drug Committee (KSMVADC).
Speaking to media, Joint Secretary, KSMVADC, Md. Abid said that the incident came into light when two members of KSMVADC went for a routine drive at around 11.30 am and caught two people along with SP tablets. When one of the peddlers called Md Ithemba came to know that he has been raided by KSMVADC then he beat up the member and took him under control. KSMVADC raided the residence of Ithemba and rounded up six of them including Ithemba. During the raid, more than 1000 SP tablets and 25 pieces of N10 tablets were discovered from the residence. The peddlers have been identified as Md Rukkudin (56) son of Abdul Rahman, Md Itomba (38) son of Abdul Rahman, Md Nanao (24) son of Md Rukkudin, Noori wife of Md Ithemba, Leila wife of Rukkudin and Md Ithemba son of Abdul Rahman. They were handed over to Heingang police with the tablets.
Apart from the pedlars five drug users were also rounded by the committee and after giving them some warning they were handed over to their respected family members.
