KCP (PWG) MC Unification warns JNIMS authority over alleges nepotism and irregularities in Nursing Promotions

The proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) (PWG) MC Unification has alleged widespread irregularities, nepotism, and favouritism in the promotion and utilization of nursing staff at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal.
In a statement issued by Chingkheinganba, the outfit’s Public Relations Officer (designate) under the supervision of Lanyanba Khuman, the KCP (PWG) MC Unification expressed concern over what it described as systemic malpractice within the state-run medical institution. The group claimed that the JNIMS administration had failed to address the grievances of its nursing personnel, particularly issues related to staff promotion and service extension.
According to the statement, several Assistant Nursing Superintendents at JNIMS are allegedly drawing both full-time salaries and pensions simultaneously. The outfit questioned the rationale behind the repeated extensions of service for certain employees after their superannuation, terming it as a serious administrative lapse.
The KCP further alleged that while key positions such as Nursing Superintendent and Deputy Nursing Superintendent have remained vacant for a considerable period, the institute continues to promote nursing staff disproportionately. The statement compared the staffing structure of JNIMS with that of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal. It highlighted that while RIMS has nine Assistant Nursing Superintendents, JNIMS reportedly has as many as thirty-six. Similarly, RIMS, with a total of 1,164 hospital beds, employs 116 Nursing Sisters, whereas JNIMS, with only 751 beds, has 164 Nursing Sisters—an increase from 78 after the addition of 86 more.
The outfit accused the JNIMS authority of fostering a culture of nepotism and favouritism, resulting in disorganization in duty allocation and inefficiency in patient care. It alleged that such irregularities have created an imbalance in staff hierarchy and adversely affected the functioning of the hospital.
Concluding its statement, the KCP (PWG) MC Unification warned the JNIMS administration to immediately initiate corrective measures to restore transparency and discipline within the institution. It also cautioned that the outfit would continue to monitor the issue closely to ensure accountability and fairness in the system.
