The KCP People’s War Group has alleged large-scale financial irregularities in the implementation of government agriculture schemes in Manipur, claiming that a substantial portion of funds sanctioned for farmers is diverted by ministers, departmental officials and other intermediaries.
In a press statement issued by its Secretary and Central Media Coordinator, Comrade Lenin Meitei, the outfit alleged that as much as 80 per cent of funds allocated under welfare schemes is siphoned off, leaving only 20 per cent to reach beneficiaries.
The statement specifically raised allegations concerning the Agriculture Department and claimed that one person, who had served as a nodal officer, had links with another, whose establishment is located at Nongmeibung, Rajbari. It alleged that departmental officials had arrangements with supply firms involved in providing materials intended for farmers through 24 supply farms.
The outfit claimed that it had raised concerns over the alleged irregularities involving departmental officials and supply firms during the latter part of 2024 and urged corrective measures. However, it alleged that no action was subsequently taken.
It also alleged that farmers in Manipur have been deprived of intended benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), particularly in the hill and valley areas.
The KCP People’s War Group warned that continued irregularities could invite stronger action.
