KCP(Poirei Meitei Lup) calls 12 hours general strike on Sep.1

Imphal, Aug. 30: The outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (Poirei Meitei Lup) has called a 12 hours’ general strike all over Manipur from 6 am in the morning till 6pm in the evening on September 1, 2016 alleging rampant corruption practices carried out at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College of Sciences by Dr. L. Deben, Director-in-charge, JNIMS in collusion with P.K.Singh, Commissioner (Health), Govt. of Manipur. The outfit charged the duo of holding different DPCs for the appointment of many associate professors and professors for teaching in different faculties of the JNIMS, by jumping the guidelines set out by the Medical Council of India.
Expressing surprise over the silence of the Chief Minister, O.Ibobi and his government, the prevailing corruption system and the irregularities in the appointment of the different posts in the teaching faculties of the JNIMS may prompt the cancellation of the MBBS and PG Courses at JNIMS hinted Malemnganba Meitei in a release of the outfit today.
Further, the release stated the general strike would not cover the media, religious activities, hospital services and essential services like electricity and water supply.
