The proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) has expressed deep condolences over the death of Moirangthem Ngamba @ Nanao (35), a member of the Meeyamgi Yawol Lanmee (MYL), the armed wing of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL).
In a press statement, S. Mangal, Secretary-In-Charge of Information and Publicity of the KCP, said Ngamba was killed around 11:00 AM on May 19 while on active duty along the Manipur-Myanmar border. He was part of a special operational team of the revolutionary forces when he was shot by an enemy sniper during a confrontation.
Ngamba, a resident of Tuibong in Churachandpur district, was the fifth child of Moirangthem Mani and Moirangthem Ongbi Loidang. His death comes amid what the group described as an ongoing “proxy war” following the May 3, 2023 crisis, alleging involvement of Kuki-Chin armed groups and foreign interests.
The KCP described Ngamba’s death as a significant loss to the movement, stating that his sacrifice will continue to inspire the ongoing struggle for Manipur’s identity and sovereignty. The party, along with KYKL/MYL, pledged to carry forward the revolutionary mission with renewed resolve.
