Kangpokpi Forest Division and District Police destroyed illegal poppy plantation

A combined team of Kangpokpi Forest Division and District Police, Kangpokpi and Imphal East destroyed illegally cultivated poppy in the hill ranges of T Khullen and Lhangsom Villages under Siakul SD. The poppy destruction teams were led by Range Forest Officer, Kangpokpi Range at T Khullen where a total of 3.5 Ha was covered. 17Ha area was cleared of illegal poppy cultivation at Lhangsom hill ranges. Along with poppy plants, illegally erected huts and items found in the huts used in poppy cultivation were all destroyed too.
The efforts to eradicate poppy from the State with such drives shall continue in other poppy cultivated areas of the State. It may be reiterated that breaking up op of land for non forestry purposes in notified forests of the country is a violation of rules laid down by Indian Forest Act, 1927 read with Manipur Forest Rules, 2021. The Divisional Forests Officer, Kangpokpi Forest Division already issued warning to those indulging in such acts who will be dealt with severely as per law.
