Imphal, July 8:
The annual Kang (Rath Yatra) ritual is being conducted today with minimal gatherings. Khongbantabam Joychandra Sharma, Karya Adhyaksa of Shree Shree Govindaji Brahma Sabha said that “after a hiatus since last year, the Govindaji Rath Yatra took place amid hopes that praying to Lord Govindaji would help alleviate the current crisis.”
He has emphasized that “this event was held strictly as a ritual rather than a celebration, with necessary rites being performed for the devotees and Vaishnavs who attended. The organizers maintained a focus on keeping the event minimal, adhering to the essential rituals only.”
Political leaders and community members gathered to participate in the ritual, showing their support and faith. At 1 PM, the idol of Lord Govindaji was ceremoniously placed on the chariot. The procession then moved towards Pureiromba Khongangkhong before making its return.
The organizers addressed the criticism received on social media, reassuring the public that the ritual was conducted with the utmost restraint, emphasizing the importance of maintaining traditional practices even during challenging times.
