The Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation, Kakching, has welcomed Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh’s announcement to establish the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur at Kakching.

The Chief Minister made the announcement on August 4 during the convocation ceremony of NIT Manipur at the City Convention Centre, Imphal.

In a statement, the organisation expressed appreciation for the decision, saying the establishment of the permanent NIT campus at Kakching would strengthen technical education and contribute to the socio-economic development of the district.

The organisation urged the State Government to initiate the necessary steps for early establishment of the permanent campus and ensure adequate academic, residential and other essential infrastructure.

It also appealed to all stakeholders to extend cooperation towards making the proposed campus a reality, describing the announcement as a significant development for Kakching and Manipur’s higher education sector.
