Justice Abhilasha Kumari Sworn in as the first woman Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur

Imphal, Feb. 9: Justice Abhilasha Kumari, Judge of the High Court of Gujarat was today sworn in as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur. Governor of Manipur, Dr. Najma Heptulla administered the oath of office  to Justice Abhilasha Kumari at a ceremony held at the Durbar Hall,  Raj Bhavan, Imphal. She is the first woman  Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur.

She was appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur by the President of India on February 6, 2018. Justice Kumari is a native of Himachal Pradesh. After graduating from Delhi University, she obtained a law degree from Himachal Pradesh University. She joined the Bar in 1984 and practiced in the HP High Court.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Dy. CM Y. Joykumar, Speaker Y. Khemchand, Dy Speaker K. Robindro, Council of ministers, MLA’s, Opposition leader and MLA Okram Ibobi Singh, Former CM Radhabinod Koijam,  Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, and other senior officials of the state government, police and Bar members.

Mention may be made that the swearing–in-ceremony of Justice Abhilasha Kumari as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur was also attended by her father Virbhadra Singh, former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister
