Imphal, Mar 26:

Vehicles of a team of journalists from Manipur and Silchar of Assam were reportedly detained at Congress Bhavan complex Silchar Park road for nearly one hour for parking inside the complex without prior permission.
The Journalists’ team was on their way to cover news of a function called ‘Precious Day’ at Rajiv Bhawan, Silchar Park road, organized by the All Assam Manipuri Youth Association where the Chief Minister of Manipur attended as the Chief Guest.
“We went in two four-wheeler vehicles for coverage of the event where Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has to attend as Chief Guest at Rajiv Bhawan Auditorium at Silchar”, Imphal Times reporter Sh. Ajit said.
He further added that as they reached the venue at around 1 pm yesterday, some traffic police told them to park their vehicles inside the complex of the Congress Bhavan. However, after the programme was completed, the journalists’ team was not allowed to take out the vehicles that they parked inside.
“A watchman closed the gate with a chain and said that we cannot take out our vehicles”, said Ajit.
Later, some of the Silchar-based journalists went to the Congress office and asked them to release the vehicles as they were on their duty and the vehicles were parked inside as per the directives of the traffic police. After a hectic argument for about an hour, the office-bearer of the congress Bhavan reportedly released the vehicles.
