Imphal Times has expressed profound grief over the untimely demise of senior sports journalist Okram Homendro, who passed away on June 8 at the age of 52.
A resident of Singjamei Makha Khongnangphei-Dekpi, Homendro was serving as Sub-Editor (Sports) of Poknapham daily. He began his journalism career with Naharolgi Thoudang in 1999 and dedicated over two decades to sports journalism, earning the respect of colleagues and the sporting fraternity alike.
According to reports, Homendro fell unconscious while on duty on June 4 and was initially admitted to a hospital in Imphal before being shifted to Shija Hospitals. He succumbed to his illness on June 8. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
In a condolence message, the Editorial Board and staff of Imphal Times described Homendro as a committed journalist whose contributions to sports reporting helped promote and document Manipur’s vibrant sporting culture. The newspaper fraternity noted that his dedication, professionalism and passion for journalism will be remembered by colleagues and readers alike.
