Joint CEO Manipur recommends re-poll in six polling stations

In response to the incidents of violence and disruptions during the General Elections to Lok Sabha, 2024, Ramananda Nongmeikapam, Joint Chief Electoral Officer of Manipur, has written a letter to Madhusudan Gupta, Secretary of the Election Commission of India, regarding the necessity for holding fresh polls in several polling stations in Manipur. The letter, dated yesterday, enclosed a communication from the Returning Officer for Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, emphasizing the need for further necessary action regarding the fresh polls.
The identified polling stations for the fresh polls are as follows: 3/11 Moirangkampu Sajeb Upper Primary School, due to mob violence; 5/31 Khongman Zone 5, due to riots; 10/1 Iroisemba Upper Primary School (Eastern Wing), due to mob violence; 10/6 Iroisemba Upper Primary School (Western Wing), due to destruction of CU, BU, and VVPAT by a mob; 10/7 Iroisemba Upper Primary School (Middle Wing), due to destruction of CU, BU, and VVPAT; and 18/22 Kaidem Makha, due to interruption of polling by mob violence.
The Election Commission of India has made this decision to uphold the integrity and fairness of the electoral process in Manipur in light of the reported incidents.
