JNIMS submits proposal to increase MBBS intake

Imphal, July 16: Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, (JNIMS) has decided to increase the MBBS intake seat from 100 to 150. Source said a proposal in the regard has been submitted to the Ministry of Health & FW, Government of India.
As according to a scheme of Government of India, there is provision for support of Rs 1.2 crore per seat for development of infrastructure for any gap filling that may be necessary as per MCI norms. This translates into Rs. 60 crore, out of which 90% i.e Rs 54 crore will be provided by the Government of India.
The matter is likely to be discussed threadbare in the Technical Evaluation Committee meeting which is scheduled on July 19, at 11am at Nirman Bhavan, New Delhi.
