Jiribam Temporary lock-up inaugurated

Jiribam, June 17:

As per government order, a temporary lock-up for covid positive accuse has been set up at Jiribam District by renovating the erstwhile defunct sub-jail of Jiribam.
Today, the Superintendent of Police Jiribam A. Ghanashyam Sharma inaugurated the temporary lock-up by cutting a ribbon where different ranks of police officers of Jiribam District attended the inaugural function.
It might be recall that the Jiribam Sub Jail was established in 1964 and had functioned very well as a full-fledged jail in older times up to 1996-97 under the supervision of a Jailor. However, recently giving attention to the surging covid positive cases, the barren sub-jail was converted into temporary lock-up for the Covid positive accuse persons, as they were not able to keep in Covid Care Centre with others patients.
Meanwhile, the Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) donated 10 solar lamps at the temporary lock-up campus as well as different philanthropists of Jiribam extended logistics support for the renovation works of the jail. For which the S.P Jiribam extended gratitude towards them.
