Jiribam PRIs calls shut down against the non- release of funds

Jiribam, April 23 :

Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members of Jiribam District protested against the State Government for non- releasing MGNREGA funds and wages for job cardholders at Jiribam District on Thursday.
The Job cardholders and Panchayati Raj Institution members staged sit in protest at Lamlong Keithel, Kamranga, Jiribam today.
The protestors also block NH-37 and shouted slogans- for releasing funds of MGNREGS, 15th Finance Commission Award (2nd Installment), Honorarium of Panchayat Functionaries from October 2019 to March 2021, Immediate Implementation of NeFMS for the welfare of Job cardholders.
Talking with Journalists Kh. Janaki Devi, Adhyaksha Zilla Parishad, Jiribam said the PRI body mostly supported to BJP government. The present BJP Government also upgraded 100 days wages to job cardholders. It was unfortunate that from the previous one year wages of job cardholders were not provided. As the Job cardholders misunderstand Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) body. In support of Manipur PRI body, we called 48 hours shut down at Jiribam.
Kh. Janaki Devi also appealed to the government to fulfill the demands and to released funds as earliest.
The shutdown protest was also attended by pradhan of Hilghat Gram panchayat L. Somorendro Singh; Dibong G.P Pradhan RK. Nobinsana and Nominee of Sonapur GP pradhan Md. Foiz Ahmed.
After receiving the information of the protest, the Jiribam District Police personnel led by Addl. S.P. (L/O) H. Bashulal Singh reached the spot and dispersed the crowd and sit-in-protest.
