JDDC resumes demand for full-fledged revenue district

Imphal, Sept 24: Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) has resumed agitation for demand of a full-fledged  revenue district by staging sit-in-protest at various part of the sub –division.
The JDDC has been demanding upgradation of Jiribam sub-division to a full-fledged revenue district since the last many years.
Members of JDDC expressed disappointment to the attitude of the State Government in handling the burning issue. Alleging State Government of making false promises to the people of the Jiribam, the JDDC has resumed protest demonstration demanding immediate up-gradation of the Jiribam sub-division into a full-fledged district from starting form today with the support from the local peoples, said the member.
The JDDC also threatened to launch serious form of agitation apart from the sit-in-protest, if the State Government continues to disregard the peoples’ demand.
It may be mentioned that the JDDC and State Government have signed an MoU on November 9, 2011 to implement and up-grade Jiribam sub-division into a full-fledged revenue district.
Merchant Union of Jiribam also staged sit-in demonstration in support to the demand of the JDDC.
