JD (U) vows to fight AFSPA

Welcoming the New Year and extending wishes of the New Year Janata Dal United today said that the party will stand against AFSPA in the coming days. Addressing reporters today at its office of Janata Dal United, Manipur, President, M. Tombi said that the party has been consistently taking part in any agitations against AFSPA. He added that he had participated in the mass rally conducted by North-East Forum for International Solidarity (NEFIS) at Jantar Mantar on 20th Dec demonstrating against AFSPA. Condemning the recent recovery of the eight human skulls from the campus of erstwhile Tombisana High School, Tombi added that the government of Manipur must unveil the truth as soon as possible about the skulls to clear all the doubts of the people. Tombi further added that installing of CC TVs and erecting of street lamps are of no use if they are not working.
He further said that the state government needs to take up stringent action to curb the growing drug menace in the state. Concern departments required to work sincerely in this regard.
He also stressed on the need to rewards police officials who had foiled the smugglers attempt to smuggled illegal drugs in the state.
