Jiribam, July 03:

The Joint Committee of Inner Line Permit (JCILPS), Jiribam branch detained 16 non-locals who were returning from Tamenglong District without valid Inner Line Permits.
Yesterday at around 5 p.m, the JCILPS volunteers stop a passenger cruiser which is coming from Tamenglong District with non-local passengers. While checking their ILP pass, it was found all the ILP pass were expired/invalid permit.
Talking with media person, the President of Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) N. Sadananda Meitei said the non-local workers entered through Jiribam District with ILP pass, whereas after entering to Manipur their is no proper mechanism to check the pass for renewal.
He added, once the non-local entered to the other districts of Manipur through Jiribam gateway with ILP pass. The agents of non-local or the district administration of other districts of Manipur are not taking steps for renewing the ILP pass in timely.
“Which seems to be that the permit remains only for namesake”, He added.
Sadananda also appealed to the government to take appropriate measures for such loopholes and make the ILP pass effective in Manipur.
Later the non-locals with invalid ILP pass are handed over to police to initiate legal action against them by JCILPS, Jiribam branch.
