The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Liwa Sarei, Chandel on Wednesday celebrated it’s foundation day at the auditorium of the school with a variety of events ranging from recognition awards to cultural items.
Attended by headmasters and principals from various schools in Chandel including Oak Hill Christian Academy, Model Residential School, Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School, president of NSUC, ZEO Chandel and chiefs of neighbouring villages among many, the day was a celebration of educational excellence, achievements and unity.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Amarson Sankhil, Principal, JNV Chandel said the institution has been a since of excellence especially in the field of education and sports since its establishment in 1988 by the then Prime Minister of India, Late Rajiv Gandhi. For 38 years, the institution has been a symbol of excellence, producing scholars and sportspersons that have excelled in life, the principal said.
He also credited all the teachers and staff for their role in making JNV Chandel one of the best institutions in the state. He maintained that JNV Chandel has, over the years, persevered and worked hard towards holding the ideals of nationalism, hard work, unity and national integration.
Welcoming the special invitees, teachers and students, K. Noren Sharma, PGT – Chemistry, said JNV Chandel was established with a vision to upload the ideals of academic excellence, curricular activities and service to society. Greetings those gathered, he called on them to be a part of the celebration of JNV Chandel and its achievements.
Dr. Bd. Thumdal, Principal (Retd), United College, Lambung also extended his greetings and best wishes on the occasion. He said JNV Chandel was a reputed institution that was looked up to by students, teachers and parents alike.
The celebration was also marked by a show of unity and national integrity in the form of various cultural shows and traditional dances from the state such as Anal cultural dance, Maring cultural dance, the famous Bamboo dance and even Bollywood dances even as the school students cheered on.
As part of the celebration, CBSE exam toppers were also awarded with certificates. Moreover, prizes to various school activities such as sports and literary were also given while the Champion House for 2025-26 was also declared and the prizes given away.
The celebration ended with a rendition of the national anthem by the students, teachers and all those present.
