JAC on Echan murder to intensify stir.

Demanding the capture and punishment of the suspects involved in the murder of Wahengbam Echan, locals of Sekmaijin Khunou Awang Leikai and JAC of Echan today thronged the Mayang Imphal Police station.
Tear gas shells and mob bombs were fired by Mayang Imphal police personnel to control the mob.
There were prolonged scuffle between the locals and the police personnel.
JAC has already warned the concern authority and the Government that indefinite bandh on Mayai Lambi from 6 pm of May 21 will be imposed if their demands to apprehend the culprits were not carried out.
Wahengbam Echan (20) d/o Late W Birakumar of Sekmaijin Khunou, Thoubal District was found dead in a suspicious manner at the bank of a fish pond near Uchiwa Thambalhoubi, Imphal West district under Mayang Imphal police station.
Echan was living with her mother Ibecha Achoubi at Sekmaijin Khunou Mayai Leikai. However, around three months back, she was staying with her aunt Okram (O) Tombi (her mother’s younger sister) at Sekmaijin Khunou Makha Leikai.
She reportedly left her aunt’s home at around 3.30 pm yesterday.
Family members thought that she had eloped and they were awaiting confirmatory news.
Ichal also reportedly told some of her friends before leaving her aunt’s home yesterday that she was eloping. She further confided that the boy she was going to elope with belongs to Mayang Imphal.
Before leaving her aunt’s home, Echan did disclose the name and other details of the man whom she was going to elope with, report says.
Meanwhile, Echan was earlier married to a man from Wangkhem but have now separated and she was living at her parental home since around one year back.
