JAC Churachandpurs lines up series of protest against passing of ILPS Bills

Imphal, Aug 25: Joint Action Committee formed against Anti-Tribal Bills is all set to observe “tribal Unity day” on August 31 to show their opposition to any move by the state government for passing of any anti- tribal Bill, stated a statement issued by the organisation.
The statement further added that the JAC will launch series of agitation from August 26 as a run up to this days.
“The JAC will organized a week long agiatation ; public meeting , Torch rallies, traditional guns salute and various other form of Protest in Lamka, the epicentre of the ongoing Tribal Movement in Manipur”, the statement said.
It further added that starting from August 26, each tribal home across Manipur is requested to light candles every night at 6.30 pm as a mark of the nine tribal martyrs and the sacrifices. On August 28 all tribal churches are asked to devote a time for mass prayers during the Sunday Church service . The Tribal Unity Day observance will begin from 9 am and tribal who owned gun license will perform traditional gun salute followed by traditional songs to show respect to the nine tribal martyrs.
The statement also announced total shut down in Churachandpur district on August 26 and August 27 till 12 noon and sit-in demonstration will be staged as various places.
On August 30 the JAC plan a torch rally from 6.30 pm. The torch rally will kick start from Salpha Pumbuk , Hiangtam Lamka.
