Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that the government is putting in all its efforts for the welfare, better living and development of the State. This was stated by him at the launching and distribution function of medicinal plants saplings to households and farmers under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav ‘Ayush Aapke Dwar’ held at Chief Minister’s Secretariat today.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister applauded the priceless support and cooperation of the people to the government in the last four and half years. Maintaining that bandhs, strikes and insurgency problems are a thing of the past, he added that the economy and law and order situation have been improved significantly in the State. He also stated that various welfare schemes and programs have been implemented for inclusive development and added that subsidized loans are being provided to entrepreneurs, unemployed youths for sustainable livelihood under Start-Up schemes and by banks.
The Chief Minister mentioned that Churachandpur Medical College would be functional soon as the construction of a temporary campus nearing completion. A 30-bedded hospital at Singhat is ready for inauguration, he added. He further informed that he had personally requested the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Education for the up-gradation of the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (Regional Campus Manipur) to a full-fledged Central University.
The Chief Minister appealed to the media fraternity to understand their role, responsibilities and maintain the ethics of journalism while reporting and publishing any sensitive issues which could hurt the sentiments of any community or group. Recalling the days when he was the President of All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU), he said that he had to deal with the sensitive issues responsibly in the larger interest of the public and State.
Mentioning the benefits of AYUSH medicine in curing various diseases and maintaining overall health, the Chief Minister said that there has been a tremendous increase of using AYUSH medicines and treatment in the last several years. He informed that different varieties of medicinal plants are found in the State. Such plants have great health benefits and have been used since time immemorial, he added.
Talking about the rich resources in the fields of agriculture and horticulture, N. Biren Singh said that our agricultural and horticultural products are of great demand outside the State as it has different taste, unique and higher nutritional value. The government is continuously helping the farmers to export their products outside the State, he added.
The Chief Minister appreciated the initiatives and role of the AYUSH department during the pandemic. AYUSH-64 tablets were distributed to those patients who are in home isolation, he added.
On the occasion, N. Biren Singh distributed medicinal plant saplings to farmers and individuals.
Minister for TA&H Vunzagin Valte, Advisor to CM (Health) Dr. Sapam Ranjan, Principal Secretary (Health) V. Vumlunmang, Director (Ayush) Dr. A. Guneshwor Sharma and others attended the program.
