IT New
Imphal, July 20:

All Manipur Tribal Union refutes the claim made in some local news by the Co-ordinating Body Khurai under the caption ‘Article 371(C) of the Indian Constitution is Temporary and can be abrogated like Article 370″ published on 18th July 2021.
“It is cautioned to such organisations to refrain from such sensitive political issues to publish cheaply in media vernaculars as it has a high tendency to flare up communal disharmony with socio-political havoc in Manipur. It appreciated an appeal the Co-ordinating Body made on living peacefully together. However, it is not a good harbinger to understand Manipur Tribal People’s exceptional Constitutional rights under Article 371(C); as though it is just a jhumming farm easily shiftable. We all are aware of the Indian Constitution and Article 371(C) is one of the exceptional Articles promulgated as an Act. It is premature to spew such snaky venom in the multi-cultural mosaic society of Manipur before one can abrogate Article 371(C) like Article 370 was. But, Jammu & Kashmir’s political history and the subject is different from North East India’s political subjects. Every North Eastern state has its own amended Article of 371 clauses with A,B,C,D,E,F and G wherein provisions are not the same. Redundant articles can either be amended or abrogated by the Indian parliament, however until such is done, an Act is an Act as long as it exists” the All Manipur Tribal Union said.
It further added that no one should proclaim Constitutional Article 371(C) easily/casually abrogate, which is akin to lack of Constitutional knowledge that may break up the beautiful social fabrics of Manipur. It will bring worse than good as such claims on sensitive issues will only by producing emotional alienation for the Manipur tribal people.
