Panthoibi Sindam Sanglen, Chingphu Keithel today said that the its members and villagers of 11 surrounding villages of Chingphu will not take part in the observance of Puya Mei Thaba on different day.
In a press statement Leimapokpam Dhananjoy Meetei, President, Panthoibi Sindam Sanglen, Chingphu Keithel said that the first ever observance of Puya Mei Thaba in Manipur was organized on October 24, 1972 by Panthoibi Sindam Sanglen, Chingphu Keithel. The date of the observance was fixed according to Meitei Calendar (17th Day of Mera). Prior to that, no other organization in the state observed the day.
“It is unfortunate that there are some people who  do not know the exact dates of historical events of the state”, the statement added. The history of bravery of Manipuri kings, the history of Manipur as sovereign kingdom was recorded in Cheitharol Kumbaba. The conspiracy of some people to observe the day of Puya Mei Thaba on the 23rd of Wakching is an effort to pollute history.
