ISBD Imphal organises scientific discourse commemorating its Foundation Day

Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India organised a programme on “Bioeconomy of Bioresources with special reference to NER” to commemorate its Foundation Day Celebration on April 29, 2022.
The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Devesh Deval (IAS), Commissioner and secretary, Science & Technology, Govt. of Manipur. He appreciated the various research activities and outreach programmes of IBSD for the development of bioresources under the leadership of Prof. Pulok K. Mukherjee, Director, IBSD, Imphal. During the event, the Director, IBSD highlighted various activities of IBSD performed under different research verticals for the development of bioeconomy from bioresources of the North Eastern Region in collaboration with twenty-one International and National Institutions, Universities and Industry partners. He mentioned that IBSD is working on exploring traditional knowledge and natural resources for the socio-economic development.
Towards this, an MoU was signed between IBSD and the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of Manipur. The programme was also attended virtually by Dr Anamika Gambhir, Scientist G, DBT, Govt. of India who emphasised on various support programs funded by DBT, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. The programme was also attended by renowned speakers including Prof. Chandrabhas Narayana, Director, RGCB, Kerela, Prof. A. Mukherjee, Director, IASST, Guwahati, Prof. S. Chattopadhyay, NIT, Durgapur, West Bengal, Prof. Krishnan Baskar, Director, IIIT Senapati, Manipur, Homila Hongrei, Director, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Manipur, Prof. L. Shanjukumar Singh, Head, Department of Biotechnology, Manipur University, Imphal and S.N. Narain, Deputy Secretary, Vigilance, DBT, Govt. of India. All the scientists, students and staff of IBSD attended the programme.
