CMHT assistant for Covid treatment much lower than govt. fixed-rate for Covid treatment at Private Hospital
IT News
Imphal, June 5:

With much enthusiasm, the Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh had introduced “Chief Ministergi Hakselgi Tengbang” (CMHT) to help the poor who cannot afford the treatment cost.
During this Covid-19 pandemic too, by realizing the fact that many couldn’t afford the treatment cost of the Covid-19 related cases the state authority announced free treatment of CMHT and PMJAY cardholders at any empanelled hospital.
Those who are fortunate enough to get treatment at government hospitals are okay, but what about those who admitted to private hospitals for Covid treatment.
As per June 3 report, there are 144 total beds including 12 ICU at RIMS, At JNIMS total bed for Covid treatment is 156, of which 19 are ICU. There are many district hospitals at each district which are opened for covid treatment but without ICU facilities except at Senapati district hospital. That means for Covid moderate patients which need medical care have to depend at either JNIMS or RIMS. With the spike in the Covid-19 cases and with people in need of treatment on the rise, many have to certainly depend on the private hospital which are accommodated and empanelled for Covid treatment.
Under the CMHT, a Covid patient in general wards has been entitled to reimbursement of Rs. 3,800 per day. The government fixed charge for general wards for Covid patient is Rs. 3,000 without including other charges including medicines.
For a Covid patient admitted at the ICU of a private hospital without a ventilator, the amount of assistance from the CMHT is Rs. 5,600/-. However, for this kind of treatment (without ventilator at ICU) is Rs. 8000/-. The patient has to find Rs. 2,400/- to pay the remaining charge.
For Covid patient at ICU with ventilator support the amount from the CMHT to be assisted to the patient is Rs. 6,700/-. The amount fixed by the state health department for a patient at ICU with a ventilator is Rs. 8,000/-. Here again, the patient has to find by using all means to fill up the required amount.
For HDU (High dependency Unit) the CMHT charges allocated is only Rs. 4,700/-, when the State health department fixed the rate at Rs. 10,000. The patient has to pay Rs. 5,300/- from his pocket.
The advertisement issued by the State Health Agency, Government of Manipur issued by Chief Executive office, Laltanpuii Vancchong said that “CMHT & PMJAY beneficiaries in need of Covid-19 related treatment in the state will receive free of cost treatment at any empanelled hospital under CMHT/PMJAY”.
This is nothing but a true lie that definitely will defame the Chief Minister and his CMHT despite his intention.
