Imphal, Feb 21:

State Govt. inaction against private colleges which earn money from students by way of fraudulent activities during admission has shattered the dream of many aspirant students leaving them no option but to leave their studies.

What is more worrying is the government’s initiative to convert such private colleges to Govt. Aided College, by sidelining the fact that there are pending cases of fraud admission sabotaging the career of students.

This newspaper had reported about a student of Mayai Lambi College transferring to a private run college called Kamakhya Pemton College located at Hiyangthang in 4th Semester B.Sc after completing 3rd Semester exam at Mayai Lambi College in 2014. The student was provided a new registration certificate, which is in violation of the Manipur University regulations and allowed to admit for further studies.

The student was told by the authority of the KP College Hiyangthang that the University had provided a new registration certificate and has accepted his transfer college indicating that he can continue his 4th semester at KP College.

Interestingly, the KP College declared the student cleared his 3rd semester from their college and stated that he could not clear his 4th Semester in 2015. The said student had already cleared his 3rd Semester exam from Mayai Lambi College.

Out of animosity, the parents of the student investigate the matter and came to find out that there are no regulations that a student can get a new registration certificate neither could transfer college before completing the whole semester examination. This clearly showed that the admission was a fake one and that it was also an assassination of the student’s career.

When the matter was highlighted in this newspaper, the authority of the KP College threatened the parents of the student. Regarding the matter, police has registered a case last year.

Before investigating how the college allowed fake admission to students, the government is all set to convert it as Govt. Aided College.

Big question arising here is the seriousness of the State government in the Education Sector. Sections of people now question why the Govt. has not taken up any action against the KP College authority for the mischievous act that spoiled the career of a student. There are also reports of many such cases but this one is on record.
