Imphal, July 2:
Two important Ministers of the N. Biren Singh led government are expected to meet the Prime Minister or the Union Home Minister either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow in connection with the crisis in Manipur which is giving headache to the BJP central leadership.
A highly reliable source told Imphal Times that Minister Biswajit and Minister Khemchand have been called by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a day after the supporters of N. Biren Singh force him to withdraw his stand for resignation from the post of Chief Minister. Minister Khemchand had already left for New Delhi yesterday; however, Minister Biswajit is still in Imphal. Source said that Biswajit is leaving Imphal for New Delhi tomorrow. However, there is no official confirmation made to Imphal Times when asked to his office.
Reasons on why the two Ministers have been summoned by the Union Home Minister is not known. However, it said that the two Ministers are also expected to meet the Prime Minister as desired by him.
Mentioned may be made that Minister Biswajit and Minister Khemchand were the only two BJP MLAs who were summoned by Amit Shah along with N. Biren Singh before making a final decision for the formation of BJP led government in Manipur after the 2022 state Assembly election.
Thousands of N. Biren’s supporters gathered on June 30 in front of Chief Minister’s bungalow stopping N. Biren Singh from going to Raj Bhavan to tender resignation from the post of Chief Minister. The scene was seen for the second time in the post statehood political history of Manipur after June uprising in 2001.
The supporters of N. Biren Singh snatched the resignation paper prepared for submission to the Governor of Manipur and tear it.
Interestingly, N. Biren Singh leadership still has failed to control the prevailing crisis in the state. Today too three Meitei and one Kuki were reportedly killed in confrontation in the adjoining area between Churachandpur and Bishnupur district.
