Irregularities in awarding Post Matric scholarship by MOBC highlighted in Assembly session

Various forms of irregularities being underway while awarding post Matric scholarship by Minorities and Other Backward Classes (MOBC) Department has been brought to the notice of the ongoing state assembly session today by Trinamool Congress MLA Dr.I Ibohalbi.
While moving a policy cut motion to the passing for demand for grant of Rs. 34,87,58,000/- for MOBC with the permission of the Speaker, Dr.Ibohalbi while appreciating the various measures being taken up by the department for promotion of minority communities, Dr.Ibohalbi said that some of the staffs are trying to extract the fund in their in own pocket spoiling the good image of the Chief Minister who is also in charge of the Department.
Supporting his motion the MLA presented an information received through RTI at which it is stated that a sum of rupees 1,67,000/- has been released without correct information of a student. He said a Student named Nongjaimayum Abjit Ali son of one Sikandar who is doing B Tech, Civil Engineering at Sikkim has been wrongly stated as B Tech Food Technology and the bank account as also open at some other bank instead of depositing to the real bank account open at Thoubal.
