A Jamandar of the 3rd Indian Reserved Battalion today committed suicide by shooting himself with his own service weapon inside a room located near Classic Grande Hotel, Chingmeirong, in Imphal East, according to first hand report from police source.
The Jamandar has been identified as Elangbam Ibotombi @ Shantikumar, son of late E. Kumar of Langmeidong in Kakching district. His dead body was found lying on the bed with a bullet hit at his head and service weapon lying near him. Cause of the death even though has been suspected as suicide case, police are investigating over the matter. His dead body was found by other security colleague at around 3.30 pm today.
The deceased Jamandar of the 3rd IRB Elangbam Ibotombi served as security escort for the Chief Minister of Meghalaya.
