‘Irabot Day’ celebrated across the State

The 126th birth anniversary of Jana Neta Hijam Irabot was celebrated at Thangmeiband Cheirao-Ching jointly by Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) and All Manipur United Club Organisation(AMUCO).
The celebration was also attended by leaders of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur, All Manipur Women’s Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) and AMUCO.
Speaking at the function, TUC President Pratap Leisangthem said that there are statues of Hijam Irabot, Paona, Thangal, and Tikendrajit at Cheiraoching and people are praying for floral tributes to the statues on their respective observance days.
Speaking at the function, AMUCO President Nando Luwang said Mahatma Gandhi lived for 79 years and Lamyanba HIjam Irabot lived for only 55 years. If Gandhi died at the same age as Hijam Irabot, no one would have heard of Mahatma Gandhi. He further said that Mahatma Gandhi was born into a rich family, while Lamyanba Irabot was born into a poor family.
Khongman Gram Panchayat organised the 126th Irabot Day celebration at Thangam Sanjou Memorial Community Hall in Khongman Zone-2.The function was attended by Ningombam Ibopisak, Narayan Sharam, and Naorem Samanda as praesidium members. As a part of the Irabot celebration, the organising committee felicitated Tongbaram Chandra Kala, an Indian Young National Awardee of 2022.
